Akolkar Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us from the Doiphoda area near Sillod. We use Prabhakar Gaikwad’s place as our main point of contact. It’s at the Post Office address, so it’s easy enough to find if you’re local. We didn't start this to be some big corporation. We just saw that things were getting harder for small farmers around here and wanted to do something about it. Buying seeds and stuff is getting so expensive these days. By getting together, we can save a bit of money. We spend a lot of time talking about the crops and which pests are causing trouble this year. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we disagree on things, but that’s part of being in a community. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or a polished office. Most of our work happens out in the dirt, not behind a desk. We just use the house for the official stuff and to keep our books in order. Farming is what we know, so that’s what we focus on. We’re just trying to make sure everyone in our group gets a fair chance to sell what they grow. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunup to sundown. If you stop by, don't expect anything fancy, just some regular folks working hard to keep things going in Sillod. We are just trying to make it through each year together.
