Akashmitra Farmers Producer Companylimited is based at Gut No. 200/1 in Malkapur, Buldhana. It is a specific piece of land where we decided to set up our operations. Being in Buldhana, we are surrounded by other farmers who face the same problems we do. We started this because we wanted a way to get our produce out to the markets more efficiently. It is not an easy job. We spend a lot of time on the phone or driving around to see other members. The spot at Gut No. 200/1 is where we keep our records and meet when we have something to decide. We don't use big words or have fancy presentations. It’s usually just a group of us sitting around, maybe having some tea, and looking at the numbers. Farming is unpredictable, and having this company gives us a little bit of a safety net. We try to share the cost of things like transport and seeds. Sometimes it works out great, and other times we have to figure out why we lost money. It’s just the reality of life here. We are just a group of locals who decided to try something different. We are not polished or corporate; we just know what it’s like to work in the sun all day. We’re just trying to make it work. It’s a slow climb, but we are doing it together as friends and neighbors.
