Actfield Farmers Producer Company Limited is based over at Dattatry Panduji Shelakemola’s place in Mehkar. It is a part of Buldhana that is mostly about agriculture. We do not have a big store with glass windows. It is more of a practical setup for the local farmers here. We figured out a while back that if we put our heads together, we could handle the buyers better. Farming is a gamble most years. You put the seed in and hope for the best. We help each other with that. It is not always easy keeping everyone on the same page, but we try. People drop by the office in Mehkar to talk about their yields or if they need something for their land. We are not experts in everything, but we know our own soil. The work changes with the seasons. Sometimes we are busy with the paperwork, and other times we are just out in the sun. We wanted to have something that belonged to the farmers here. It is a lot of physical labor and some days you are just tired. But it is a good kind of tired. We do not have any fancy brochures or anything like that. Just our name on the door and a phone that rings quite a bit. We are just a local group trying to make a living from the land in Buldhana. It is hard work, but it is our work.
