Bhojraj's house at H.No.03 in Pimpalagaon Devi is where we usually get together to talk shop. This part of Buldhana gets quite dry and dusty, so farming takes a lot out of you. Aaush Patil Farmer Producer Company Limited was put together because we were tired of being told what to do by people in cities who have never seen a plow. We do things a bit differently here in the Motala area. It’s mostly just a group of us who grew up together and decided to pool what little we had. The office is small and it usually smells like hot tea and whatever fertilizer someone just hauled in. There’s always someone coming in to complain about the price of fuel or the lack of water. We try to listen and see if we can solve it together. It’s not a corporate office with people in suits. It’s just us in our work clothes trying to get the crops sold for a decent price. Sometimes we make mistakes with the accounting and have to stay up late to fix it. The internet connection in Pimpalagaon Devi is patchy at best, which makes things frustrating. But we stick with it because this is our home. We want to see our kids have a better life here on the farm. We don't have any fancy brochures to hand out, just our word and our daily work in the dirt.
