N.C. Woollen Mills

N.C. Woollen Mills has been tucked away here at Daga Chowk for a long time. It’s a noisy place with the machines running all day, but we got used to the sound years ago. We work mostly with wool, which means the floors are usually covered in bits of fiber, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the way a mill works. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to keep the machines humming. Daga Chowk is a good spot for us because people know where to find us. It’s easy to give directions. You just tell them to look for the big building near the crossing. We have a small crew, mostly people from around the neighborhood who have been with us through thick and thin. We make the yarn and blankets that people actually use. It’s hard work and the summer heat makes the mill feel even hotter, but we get through it. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just show up at the gate or call the landline. We try to keep our prices fair because we know the people buying from us aren't looking for luxury, just something that lasts. Every morning we start the engines and get to work. It's a simple life. We don’t spend much time talking about business plans, we just make sure the wool is processed right and sent out to the folks who ordered it.
