Kishan Kumar Trading Co. is located near the Mata Ji Temple at Mundhra Chowk. Sh. Sunder Lal Mundhra started things here, and we’ve kept it going in the same spot. Being near the temple means we hear the bells and the morning prayers every day, which is a nice way to start work. The chowk is always full of activity, with carts and people passing by our door. Our office is part of the C/O M/S Kishan Kumar Trading Co. setup, so it’s a shared kind of energy. We deal with various trading goods, so our space is often cluttered with samples and ledgers. It’s not a modern, minimalist office. There are old wooden desks and cabinets full of papers that we’ve collected over the years. We do a lot of our business by just talking to people who come through Mundhra Chowk. It’s a very local way of working. We don't use much fancy technology, just the basics to keep our records straight. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get to it. We are usually too busy keeping track of the market prices and talking to our regular contacts. It’s a practical business run by real people who have been in this neighborhood for a long time. We know the shopkeepers nearby and we all look out for each other. It’s just how things are done here at the chowk.
