You will find Gurukul Institue Of Education at Marothi Chowk, which is right on the main road here in Bikaner. It is a very easy spot to find because of all the traffic passing by. We have been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. Our space consists of a couple of rooms where students gather after they finish their regular school hours. Because we are on the main road, it can get quite noisy with the horns and people shouting, but we just close the door and focus on the work. We teach the standard school subjects that the kids need help with. The walls are just a plain off-white color and we have some old charts hanging up to help with the lessons. We do not have any air conditioning, so we rely on the ceiling fans to keep things moving. During the rainy season, the sound on the roof can be very loud, but the kids don't mind it. We have seen many children grow up in these rooms, starting from small classes and staying until they finish their twelfth grade. We always keep a box of extra pens because someone always forgets one. There is a small tea and snack shop right next to us. Most of the students go there during their breaks. We know the owner well and he knows the kids. It is a busy life at Marothi Chowk, but we like it this way.
