Greenland School

Greenland School is right here at Uday Sewa Sadan near Gandhi Chowk in Bikaner. It is a busy spot with lots of shops and people moving around all day. The building isn't brand new, it has some character and the rooms are quite high so it stays a bit cooler in the summer heat. We have a small gate where parents drop their kids off in the morning. Bikaner gets very dusty, so we are always sweeping the floors. You can hear the market noise sometimes but the kids are used to it by now. We have a staff room where we sit and drink tea during the break. There isn't a huge playground, just a small open space where they do their exercises. Most of our students come from the nearby streets. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just ceiling fans that hum all day long. Some of the desks have scratches from years of use. It feels like a second home to those of us who work here. We know most of the neighbors and the shopkeepers around the chowk. It’s just a regular school doing its bit in this part of town. We open up early and stay until the last kid goes home. It’s a simple life here. We don't make a big fuss about things, we just get on with the teaching and the daily chores of running the place.
