Eki Community Development Foundation

Our place is at Plot 48 in Scheme 78, Part-II, right here in Indore. It’s a developing area, so there’s always some construction noise going on nearby, hammers hitting metal or trucks driving past. We’ve been here at Eki Community Development Foundation for a little while now, and we’ve gotten used to the dust that comes with all the building work. Inside, it’s mostly just desks and chairs and a whole lot of files. We aren't really the type to have a fancy reception desk or a sign that lights up. Most people just walk in and find us sitting there. Indore is a busy city, and Scheme 78 is no exception. We get quite a few people dropping by just to ask what we’re doing. We explain things simply, without using any big words or confusing jargon. It’s about the community, so we try to keep things grounded. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot to do, and the streetlights outside flick on one by one. There is a small park nearby where we sometimes sit if the office feels too cramped. It’s a practical setup. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea, and that’s usually the heart of the office. Everyone takes turns washing the cups. It’s not a polished operation, but we get the work done and that’s what matters to us. It's just how the days go.
