Divmohan Welfare Foundation

Our small group, the Divmohan Welfare Foundation, is based over at E-1/73 in Arera Colony. It’s a well-known part of town, but our setup is quite modest. We use a couple of rooms in the building to manage our daily tasks. We aren't a big corporation with departments and managers. It’s just us trying to be useful to those around us. We spend a lot of time on the ground, talking to people and seeing what’s going on in the neighborhood. Arera Colony has its own set of challenges, and we try to address them one by one. We don't have a big budget, so we have to be careful with how we spend every rupee we get. Most of our furniture is second-hand, and the printer usually jams at the worst possible time. But we make it work regardless of the small glitches. We don't use any fancy language to describe ourselves. We are just people who live here and want to help out where we can. Sometimes the work is just about helping someone find the right government office to go to, or organizing a small gathering for the elderly in the area. It’s not always exciting, but it’s important to the people who live around here. We’ve been doing this for a bit now, and we’ve gotten to know a lot of the residents. It feels like a community effort more than anything else. We just take things one day at a time and do what we can. That is how we operate every single day.
