Devganga Jagrati Foundation

Our place is right at 41 Vijay Nagar near the Lal Chouki. If you know where the Hanuman Mandir is, we are just a short walk from there. Devganga Jagrati Foundation is what we call ourselves. It's a small team, mostly people who grew up around here. We spend a lot of time talking to folks in the neighborhood. The temple bells are a constant sound in the background while we work. It’s a nice reminder of where we are. We didn't set out to be a big organization. It just started with a couple of us wanting to stay busy and help where we could. The office is pretty basic. We’ve got some chairs and a table that wobbles a bit. We don't have fancy brochures. Most people find out about us just by walking past our door. We handle different things depending on what the day brings. Sometimes it's helping a family with some paperwork, other times it’s just listening to someone's problems. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just our little slice of Vijay Nagar. It's hard work sometimes, and we get tired, but it's good to feel useful. We’ve lived here our whole lives, so we know the people and the problems. It feels right to be doing this near the mandir. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s enough for us to know we helped.
