Vijay Rubber Works

Out here in Shahibaug, specifically near the Maheshwari Mill Road, it gets pretty hot during the summer months. Being opposite Medavali Chali means there’s always something going on right outside our door. At Vijay Rubber Works, we deal with the smell of raw rubber and the sound of machines running most of the day. It’s not the cleanest work, and our hands are usually stained by the time we head home. The workshop isn't massive, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into this space in Tavdipura. We have these old fans that rattle a lot, but they keep the air moving while we’re cutting or molding. Some days are slower than others, especially when the supply trucks are late getting through the narrow streets. We don't spend much time on fancy letters or phone calls; it's mostly about getting the physical work done and making sure nothing breaks. The neighbors know us well since we’ve been at this address for quite a while now. Sometimes the rain leaks a little through the roof near the back entrance, so we have to move the stock around. It’s just a regular place where we show up, do the job, and close up when the sun goes down. Most of the guys here have been working together for years, so we don't really need to say much to get things moving. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping an eye on the details.
