Vikhram Hydraulics

Out here in Ganesh Nagar Extension, Gandhinagar, we spend our days working on hydraulic parts at Vikhram Hydraulics. It’s a messy job sometimes, with oil and metal scraps everywhere, but someone has to do it. The shop isn't very big, but we’ve got what we need to get the repairs and assembly done. People around here know us because we’ve been here for years. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising. Most folks find us through word of mouth or because they’re in the neighborhood and saw our door open. Gandhinagar is a busy area, lots of small industries like ours. We keep our own hours mostly, depending on how much work is piled up on the benches. If a customer has a broken pump or a cylinder that’s leaking, they bring it in and we take a look. It’s straightforward work. We don't have a front desk or any formal reception. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't holding a heavy wrench at the moment. We’ve been in this spot for a while. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it doesn’t affect the quality of what we do. We just want to do a decent job and stay out of trouble. It’s a living for us. We see the same faces often, which is nice. Sometimes the weather makes the shop hot, but we keep the fans going and keep moving. That's about the long and short of it.
