We’ve been running Zoom Cabs out of this spot in Arekere for a while now. If you know the big masjid nearby, you know where we are. It’s a busy corner, always something going on. Most days it’s just us keeping track of drivers and making sure cars show up when people call. It isn't a fancy office with big signs or anything like that. Just a desk and some phones really. We get people going to the airport or just needing a lift down the road. Sometimes traffic is a nightmare around here, especially on Fridays. We try our luck with the shortcuts. It’s a job like any other. The guys driving have been around the neighborhood for years, so they know the shortcuts through the back lanes. I usually stay here handling the calls. It gets loud with the horns outside. We don’t have an app or anything high-tech, just good old phone calls. People around Arekere just stop by sometimes too. We’ve seen the area change a lot lately, more buildings popping up every month. But we’re still here in the same place at number 25. It's a small operation, just a few of us making sure things move. It's not always perfect, sometimes a car is late because of a jam, but we tell it like it is. It's just how we do things here near the mosque. We keep the cars as clean as we can and just get on with the day.
