Vinod Silks

We are tucked away in Siddanna Lane, just off the J. M. Road Cross. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get down the lane sometimes, but that’s part of being in this part of the city. Vinod Silks has been around for a long time. The shop is at number 29/2. We deal with silks all day, so there’s always color around us. It’s a small space and we’ve filled every corner with stock. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website that looks like a million bucks. Most of our customers find us because their parents or grandparents shopped here. We recognize faces and remember what people like. It’s not a high-pressure sales environment. We just show what we have and let people decide. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we know our fabrics well enough to tell what’s what. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a few minutes. We like that. It makes the day go by faster. We close up when the sun goes down and start again the next morning. It’s a traditional way of doing things and we haven't seen a reason to change it. We’re just here on the lane, doing what we’ve always done. It’s a quiet life in a busy market, but we enjoy the work.
