Domestic Coconut Agents is located at No. 04 in the RP Layout of Basanth Nagar. If you walk down this street, you can’t really miss the smell of fresh husks and the sound of trucks being unloaded. We deal with coconuts all day, mostly getting them in from the farms and sorting them out for the local markets in the area. It is a dusty business, and our clothes usually end up covered in brown fiber by the time lunch rolls around. We’ve been in this layout for a good while, and the neighbors are used to the noise of the crates moving early in the morning. The space is mostly open so we can stack the bags high without hitting the ceiling. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air conditioning; it is just a working warehouse with a small corner for the ledger books. The floor is concrete and gets pretty slippery if a few coconuts break, so we have to be careful when walking around. We start work while most people are still sleeping because the deliveries come in before the sun gets too hot. Dealing with the farmers is the main part of what we do, talking about prices and how the crop looks this season. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we sit out on the steps during a break and just watch the traffic. It is not a glamorous job, but it is what we do.
