We set up Urbanbrew on the ground floor right here on Kanakapura Road, near the NDA road junction. It’s a spot that gets a lot of traffic, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to work. The smell of roasted beans usually fills the air before we even open the doors. We aren't a big chain with matching uniforms; it’s just a few of us making coffee and trying to keep the machines running smoothly. The grinders are pretty loud, and sometimes we have to shout over them to hear what someone is ordering. We have some chairs out, but most people just grab their cup and head out to catch a bus or get to their office. The floors get scuffed up pretty fast from all the boots coming in, so we are always sweeping. We spend a lot of time checking the bags of beans that come in, making sure nothing got damp. It’s simple work, really. Just water, heat, and beans. Some days the milk delivery is late, and we have to run out to the shop nearby, which is a bit of a mess, but we manage. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard, so it gets warm in here around three. We just keep the fans going and keep pouring. It’s a good place to be if you like the smell of a kitchen and the sound of people talking. We also have a small radio that plays old songs.
