Unicom Engineering

Our place is at 79, Phase-1 in the G.I.D.C Vatwa area. If you’ve ever been to Vatwa, you know it’s a massive industrial zone with a lot of heavy work going on. We fit right in there with our engineering setup. The air usually smells like metal shavings and machine oil, which is just part of the job. Inside our unit, we have the lathes and the milling machines set up, and they stay pretty busy most of the week. It’s a dusty environment, and our boots usually have a bit of grime on them by the end of the shift. We aren’t really into the whole corporate image thing. Our office is just a small partitioned space with a wooden desk and some old chairs. We spend most of our time out on the floor anyway. It gets loud when the machines are running, so we’ve all learned to talk a bit louder over the noise. We’ve been based here in Phase-1 for a good while, and we’ve seen the area change around us. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but that’s engineering for you. There’s no point in making it look like a fancy lab when it’s a working shop. We just spend our time getting the dimensions right and finishing the pieces that need to go out. It’s rough around the edges, but the work gets done and we keep moving.
