Tulsi Shooppe

If you walk down Sunkadakatte Heghanahalli Main Road, you'll see us. Tulsi Shooppe is just a small place packed with all sorts of things people need for their houses. We keep the shelves stocked with whatever sells the most, but sometimes we run out of stuff because the delivery trucks get stuck in traffic. The morning rush is the busiest when everyone is heading to work and needs something quick. My brother and I take turns behind the counter. It's not a big space, so we have to stack things high up near the ceiling. Sometimes a box falls down and we have to reorganize everything. We’ve known most of the customers for years. They come in to buy something and end up talking about their kids or the weather for ten minutes. The fan in the back makes a clicking sound that we’ve just gotten used to over time. We don't have a fancy computer system, just a ledger and a calculator that’s missing the equals button. You have to press it hard to make it work. It gets dusty because of the main road right outside, so we’re always wiping down the counters. By the time we close the gate at night, we’re pretty tired. It’s just a normal shop doing normal things for the neighborhood. No more, no less. Sometimes we stay open a little late if we see someone running toward the door because we know how it is.
