Tionale Impex Pvt. Ltd. is based on the second floor of 743 Poonamallee High Road in Kilpauk. It’s a very busy stretch of road in Chennai. If you look up from the street, you’ll see our windows. Being on the second floor helps a little bit with the noise, but you can still hear the buses and horns all day long. We deal with imports and exports, so there is always a lot of paperwork on our desks. Our office is a bit old-fashioned. We have wooden cupboards full of files and old ledgers. It’s not one of those modern open-plan offices you see these days. Everyone has their own spot and we just get on with the work. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to emails from people all over. Since we are in Kilpauk, it’s easy for people to reach us, though parking can be a bit of a headache for visitors. We don’t have any big mission statements or fancy posters on the walls. We just have a calendar and a few clocks showing different times. It’s a small team here and we’ve worked together for a long time. We know how the shipping business works and we just try to keep things moving without any errors. It’s a lot of checking documents and making sure the numbers match up. That’s pretty much how our days go here, just managing the flow of goods.
