Tata Coffee Limtied

The office is over at No.57 on Railway Parallel Road. It’s in Kumara Park West. Being right next to the railway line means you hear the trains going by all the time. You get used to the sound after a week or two though. This part of Bangalore is actually quite nice with the trees but the traffic on the parallel road can get backed up during the evening hours. We spend our days dealing with coffee. There are bags of samples sitting on the tables and the smell of roasted beans is everywhere in the building. It’s not like those fancy cafes you see in the malls. This is where the actual work happens behind the scenes. We have a small kitchen where we brew pots of coffee to taste throughout the day. Some people think it’s a dream job but there is a lot of paperwork and phone calls involved. My desk is usually covered in folders and half-empty mugs. We have a few windows that look out towards the tracks. Sometimes we watch the people waiting for the train while we take a quick lunch break. The staff here has been together for a long while so we all know how each other likes their coffee. It’s a steady routine. We get in early before the heat starts and try to finish up before the worst of the traffic. The security guard at the gate has been with us for five years and knows everyone by name.
