Tata Coffee Limited

Our office is over on Railway Parallel Road in Kumara Park West. If you know the area, it's pretty busy during the day. We’ve been handling coffee for a long time at Tata Coffee Limited. It’s mostly about the beans, checking samples, and making sure the shipments are moving like they should. The trains go by pretty often, and you get used to that rumble in the background while you're working. Some mornings the whole place smells like roasted beans, which is probably the best part of being here. We deal with a lot of paperwork and phone calls to the estates. It’s not all glamorous; there’s a lot of tracking logistics and dealing with weather reports from the plantations. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there waiting for the generator to kick in. The desks are piled with files. We have our regulars who come in and out. It’s a solid team, some people have been here for decades. We just focus on getting the coffee from the ground to wherever it needs to go. It’s a lot of coordination. You have to keep an eye on the seasons. When it’s harvest time, everything gets a bit more hectic around No 57. We just grab a cup and get through the list. It’s steady work. Nothing fancy about the building, just a place where coffee gets managed properly every day. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard for the delivery trucks to pull in, but we manage to get the bags moved eventually.
