Surya Coffee Works

Our place is at 345, Mg Road, over in Jyothi Nagar. It’s right in the middle of everything, so there is never really a quiet moment throughout the day. We’ve been operating out of this building for a long time now. The main thing you notice when you walk in is the strong smell of the coffee being processed. We have these large grinders that make a lot of noise, so you have to raise your voice to talk over them sometimes. There are bags of green coffee beans stacked up against the back wall, and sometimes they get in the way, but we don't have much room to move them anywhere else. The counter is made of heavy wood and is worn down in the spots where people usually lean while waiting. I spend my days weighing out powder and sealing bags with a little heat sealer that clicks every time. It’s a lot of the same thing every day, but I don't really mind it. The neighbors from the other shops often drop by just to say hello or to borrow some small change. We have a small fan that doesn't do much in the summer heat, so it stays pretty warm inside. It’s a very basic setup, just a shop that does coffee work for the people living and working around Mg Road. We don't try to be anything else. We just focus on the beans and the bags and getting through the day’s orders as they come.
