Sumukha Engginers

Our workshop is at 1662/2 on the 2nd Cross in Ramamohana Pura, Bangalore. It’s one of those narrow streets where you have to be careful how you park. We’ve been in this spot for years, doing all sorts of engineering and repair work. You can usually hear the sound of machines or someone welding if you walk by during the day. It’s a bit of a cluttered space with bits of metal, tools, and old machines waiting to be fixed. We don’t have a front desk or a receptionist; you just walk in and talk to whoever is free. Most of us have greasy hands by lunchtime. We have a small bench outside where we sit for ten minutes to have coffee and catch some air. The floor is concrete and has some oil stains that won't ever come out. We don’t really mind because it’s a place for work, not for showing off. We get a lot of local business from people who know we’ve been here a long time and know what we are doing. Sometimes we have to wait for parts to arrive from the other side of town, which can take forever with the Bangalore traffic. We just keep at it, fixing things and making parts until the sun goes down. It’s a honest way to earn a living and we like the community here in Ramamohana Pura. It’s a bit noisy and messy, but it is our place.
