Surya Silks has been at this spot in Sukrawarpet for a good bit now. It’s New No. 139, right where the old 154 used to be. Bangalore gets pretty busy around here, especially in the mornings when we’re just getting the shutters up and setting things out. Most days it’s just us handling the silk pieces, making sure everything is folded right and the shelves don't look too messy. People walk in from the street, sometimes looking for something specific, sometimes just browsing. We don't do anything fancy. The shop isn't huge but it fits what we need. It can get a bit loud with the traffic outside, but you get used to it after a while. My family helps out too. We spend most of the afternoon checking the stock and talking to the people who stop by. It's a simple way to spend the day. Sometimes the light inside isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. If someone asks for a particular color, we usually find it in a minute or two. We just keep things moving, one day at a time. It’s not a big corporate office or anything like that, just a regular place where we work with fabrics and try to keep the space organized enough to get through the week.
