About Sri Rambharathi Silk House – Fashion & Trends in Bengaluru
Our shop is up on the first floor of Datta Bhavan. If you know Pilappa Lane in Nagarthpet, you know how narrow and crowded it gets. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but we’ve been at number 30 for a long time. People come in looking for fabrics and sarees, and we just show them what we have on the shelves. It’s not a big department store with air conditioning. It’s more of a place where you sit on the floor or a small stool and look at the colors. The stairs are a bit steep, so you have to watch your step. My family has been doing this for years. We don't have a website that works well, mostly just word of mouth from people in the neighborhood. The morning starts with a small prayer and then we start folding and unfolding. The light in the room isn't always the best, but you can see the quality of the silk when you hold it up. Nagarthpet is loud, there are carts and bikes everywhere outside. Inside, it smells a bit like incense and old fabric. We don't do big ads. We just wait for folks to find us. Sometimes it’s quiet, other times three families come in at once and it’s chaotic. We just try to keep the stock organized, though it usually ends up in piles by the end of the day. It is a lot of work but we like it here.
