Sri Maruthi Silk Udyog

At Sri Maruthi Silk Udyog, we spend our time tucked away on the 4th Cross in Mangammanapalya. It’s near the Bommanahalli Post office, so we see the mail carriers quite a lot. Our place at number 102 isn't hard to find if you know the area, but it’s definitely a local spot. The building is older, and it has that specific smell of fabric and thread that you find in silk businesses. We spend hours looking at different materials and making sure the quality is what we expect. It can be quite tiring on the eyes, but it’s what we do. The 4th Cross can get a bit jammed up with bikes and small trucks, especially in the afternoons. We usually have rolls of silk leaning against the walls and various tools scattered on the tables. It is a working space first and foremost. We don't really do much in the way of decorating; we just need the room to work. Mangammanapalya is a hardworking neighborhood, and we fit right in with the rest of the shops around here. We start our day early and usually don't finish until the sun is well down. It’s a lot of routine, but there is something satisfying about seeing the finished silk ready to go. We just keep at it, day after day, here at our little corner in Bommanahalli. It is just us and our daily work with the fabrics.
