Sri Mahesh Engineering Works

Sri Mahesh Engineering Works is located at 89 JP Nagar, very close to the JP Nagar bus stop. You can usually hear the sound of our machines from the street before you even see the shop. We do a lot of lathe work and welding for people in the neighborhood. The floor is always covered in metal shavings and there’s a bit of oil everywhere, but that’s just how an engineering workshop looks. I started this place with just one machine and slowly added more over the years as we got more work. Most days it’s just me and two other guys working on repairs or making small parts for the local factories. We don’t have a receptionist, so if you come in, you might have to wait a minute for someone to turn off a machine to talk to you. The bus stop nearby means there are always people around, and sometimes they pop their head in just to see what we are making. We don’t really have set hours; if there’s a job that needs finishing, we stay until it’s done. It gets pretty hot inside with the welding sparks flying, but we have a big fan that helps a bit. We don’t use any fancy computers to design things; we mostly just use a pencil and a piece of paper. It’s honest work and we just try to get the measurements right for the people who bring their parts to us.
