Sree Kamal Silks

Our place is down at 1 Magadi Road, specifically in the 8th Cross area. We are inside the Shankarappa Garden, right in the Lakshmi Weaving Factory Compound. It's a bit of an old-school spot, which suits what we do here at Sree Kamal Silks. The sound of looms and the smell of fabric is pretty much what we deal with every single day. It’s not a shiny showroom like the ones you see in the city center. Instead, it’s a working space where things actually get made. We spend most of our time looking at threads and checking the weave on different pieces. The compound has a lot of history to it. You have to navigate a bit through the garden area to find us, but once you’re here, it’s all business. We’ve got a small team and we’ve been working together for a long time. Some days are slower than others, depending on how the machines are behaving. We don't use big words to describe the silks; we just show them to people. If the color is right and the feel is good, that's enough for us. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we usually take a short break then. It's a humble way to earn a living, but we enjoy being part of the local textile community here on Magadi Road. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
