You can find us at the home of Shrikant T. Gaonkar in Ajabashettywada. This is in the Aversa post office area, which is part of Ankola in the state of Karnataka. Being in a small town like this means things move at a different pace than they do in the bigger cities. The office is basically a part of a residential setup, so it has a very home-like feel to it. There are no cubicles or receptionists here. We just sit together in the rooms and handle the engineering work as it comes in. The street outside is usually quiet, with mostly just local residents walking by or the occasional tractor heading out. Since we are in the Uttara Kannada region, the weather can get quite humid, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through the trees. It is a very straightforward way of running a business. We handle our mail through the Po Aversa, and everyone in the wada knows where we are if they need to drop something off. We have been here for a long time, and the walls are covered with old charts and notes from previous projects. It is not a fancy place, but it is where we feel most comfortable working. We do our own cleaning and keep our own hours, mostly following the rhythm of the village and the seasons. It is just a regular local business doing its thing in a small corner of Karnataka.
