Smith Engineering Works

If you head down to Jalahalli West and find the Byregowda Industrial Estate you will see us there at 5A. Smith Engineering Works is basically a big shed full of machines and the smell of metal and oil. It is noisy because there is always something being cut or welded. We moved into this spot in Hegganahalli a while back and it fits what we do. The floor is usually covered in some metal shavings and the guys are always in their work clothes getting their hands dirty. We deal with various engineering tasks and repairs that come our way from other businesses in the estate. It is not the kind of place where you wear a suit. Most days are spent looking at blueprints or fixing a part that broke on someone’s machine. The Vishwaneedam Post is just a short walk away. We have got our regular tools and a couple of heavy machines that have seen better days but still work perfectly fine. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons under the tin roof but we just keep the fans going and carry on. People know us in this part of Jalahalli because we’ve been around long enough to see the neighborhood change quite a bit. We just focus on the metalwork and making sure things fit together like they are supposed to. It is a lot of manual labor but we enjoy the challenge.
