If you head over to Marshall House on N.S. Road, you’ll find us at Shree Panchmukhi Minerals Co. Pvt. Ltd. on the sixth floor. Room 644 is where we spend most of our time. It’s one of those old buildings in Kolkata that has so much history in the walls. The elevators are sometimes a bit slow, so I often end up taking the stairs when I’m in a hurry. Our office is full of samples and piles of documents related to the mineral trade. It’s not a very modern setup, but it’s practical for what we do. We’ve been operating out of this space for quite some time now. Most of our day is spent on the phone or responding to emails about shipments and grades of material. It can be quite dry work for some, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of it. The view from the window isn't much, just other rooftops and the busy street below, but the location is central for us. We don't have a big team of executives; it's mostly just a few of us who know the business inside and out. We take our lunch breaks together when we can, usually just something simple from the nearby stalls. It’s a straightforward business and we try to keep our operations that way too. No need for anything complicated when simple honesty works better for everyone involved in the day-to-day.
