Hindusthan Steel & Engineering Company is located over on Kalipalayam Tagore Road 3. We are in Shop Number 4. It is a small space but it fits everything we need for our daily work. Being in a shop means we are right on the street level. We see everyone passing by and we often chat with the other shop owners nearby. The steel business involves a lot of heavy lifting and sometimes things get a bit messy. Our shop isn't a place where you would want to wear your best clothes. There is usually some grease or dust around. We have our regular customers who have been coming to us for years. They know we don't have a fancy showroom or a salesman in a suit. They just come in, tell us what they need, and we figure it out. The road outside can be quite dusty when the wind picks up. We have a small desk in the back where we do the paperwork. Most of the time we are out front or moving materials around. It is a simple life and a simple business. We don't have any big goals of being a global giant. We just want to run our shop on Tagore Road and make a living. It is a honest day's work for us. Shop Number 4 is where we spend most of our waking hours and we are okay with that. The tea here is good and the neighbors are friendly enough.
