The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with different types of silk, and it’s a bit of a maze sometimes when we are looking for a specific color or pattern. We don't have a huge staff, so usually, it’s just a couple of us folding and unfolding sarees all day long. It is hard work on the arms and back, but seeing the bright colors under the lights makes it worth it. Sudhama Nagar is an old area, and our building has that classic Bangalore feel to it. It’s not a modern mall where everything is cold and sterile. Here, you sit down on the floor cushions and we show you the fabrics one by one. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of a clicking noise and the street outside is cramped with scooters, but that’s just the character of the place. We’ve had families coming to us for their wedding shopping for years, and now we are seeing their children come in too. We don't do much in terms of marketing; most people just hear about us from their neighbors or relatives. It’s a quiet, steady way to run a business and we like it that way.
