Shivani Galvanizing & Engineering

Shivani Galvanizing & Engineering is over at 85/14 Yeshwantpur. We are part of the Prabhu Krupa Society. This area is pretty industrial, especially around Ranip and opposite Ashokpuram. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal or machines running somewhere nearby. Our place is no different. It’s a workshop environment, so it’s not the cleanest or the quietest spot to spend a day. We have the galvanizing tanks and all the engineering tools spread out across the floor. There is a lot of heavy lifting involved in what we do. The air usually smells a bit like chemicals and hot metal, which you just get used to after a week. It’s a practical space designed for work, not for looking pretty. The society has a lot of other small units doing similar things, so there is a constant flow of delivery trucks and workers moving about. We have a small corner with a desk and some old chairs where we handle the paperwork and talk to anyone who drops by. It gets quite hot in the summer under the tin roof, so we keep the big doors open for whatever breeze comes through. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here in Yeshwantpur every day. We usually have grease on our clothes by noon, but that's the job.
