Gieo Forge

Our place, Gieo Forge, is located right on Kithaganur Main Road at Basavanagar #278/73 (89). It is a noisy environment because of the forging work, and the building itself is a bit weathered from the years. We spend the day handling heavy metal parts and the furnaces keep the temperature inside quite high even when it is raining outside. The walls are stained with soot and there are tools scattered across the workbenches in a way that only we really understand. It is not the kind of place where you want to wear clean clothes because everything you touch has a bit of grease or iron dust on it. We usually have the radio playing in the background, but the sound of the hammers usually drowns it out. Outside, the traffic on Kithaganur Main Road is always moving, and sometimes the dust from the street blows right into the shop. We have a small area in the back where we keep the raw materials piled up, and it takes some effort to move things around when a new shipment comes in. The work is physically tiring, and by the end of the shift, everyone is ready to just sit down and have some water. We have been in this spot in Basavanagar for a long time, and the building has become like a second home to those of us who work here every day.
