Sathkar Refreshment

You can find us at 28/10 in the Laldarwaja area of Vimanapura. Sathkar Refreshment has been a staple for the folks around this neighborhood for a good while now. It’s a small, simple spot. We mostly do tea, snacks, and those quick bites that people want when they are on the move. The stove is almost always on. I usually start my day before the sun is even up to get the first batch of things ready. Vimanapura is a busy place, especially with the planes from the airport nearby. You get used to the loud sound of the engines after a while. Our shop is just a simple room with a counter and a few stools for people to sit on if they’re tired. Most people just stand outside on the pavement and talk while they eat their snacks. It’s become a bit of a social spot for the locals. We know most of the people who come by their names. The rain sometimes leaks through the front awning when it’s heavy, so we have to move the chairs around to keep everyone dry. It’s just one of those little things you deal with. We don’t have a big, complicated menu. We just do a few things and we do them every day. It’s a lot of standing on your feet. My back usually aches by the end of the shift, but that's just part of it.
