Down here at S.F.No. 492/6A on Sathy Road, things stay pretty busy with all the industrial work going on. We are tucked away near the Valiampalayam Pirivu in Kurumbapalayam, which is a bit of a drive if you are coming from the main city area. The workshop floor is usually covered in metal shavings and the smell of oil is always hanging in the air. We deal with engineering controls, which means a lot of technical drawings spread out on messy desks and guys in overalls walking around with heavy tools. It gets hot under the roof in the afternoons, especially when the machines are running full tilt. We don't have a big reception area or anyone to greet you with a fancy coffee; usually, you just find whoever is closest to the gate and ask for what you need. Most of our day is spent making sure the panels and controls are put together correctly. There is a small tea stall just outside the entrance where we all gather around eleven to talk about the work or whatever else is happening in Sarkar Samakulam. It is just a practical place where we get things built. The office part is just a few chairs and some old computers that still work well enough for what we do. We like it this way because it’s about the metal and the machines, not about looking stylish for visitors.
