Sai Tender Coconut

Sai Tender Coconut is over in Shreekant Nagara, specifically at 6-21 Sanenahalli. It’s basically a local spot where we deal with fresh coconuts all day long. The ground around the shop is usually covered in husks and bits of fiber because there is always someone chopping them open. It’s a physical job, and our hands are usually a bit rough from handling the shells. We don't have a big fancy storefront, just a place to keep the piles of green coconuts that come in on the trucks early in the morning. Sanenahalli is a decent area, and we get a lot of people stopping by on their way home from work to grab a drink. The sound of the machete hitting the coconut is the main noise you hear here. We have some old benches for people to sit on if they want to drink their water right there. It’s dusty work, and we spend a lot of time swept up the mess at the end of the day. The sun beats down on the stacks of fruit, so we try to keep them in the shade as much as possible. There’s no big management team here, just a couple of us who know how to pick the best coconuts and get them ready for the customers. It is a basic business, but it keeps the neighborhood hydrated and we stay busy enough.
