If you find yourself near Kamakshi Palya 3rd Cross, you’ll probably see S L V Hosa Hurigalu Angadi. We are at Lalbagh Road 57. It’s a busy area and the shop is tucked in there with a few others. We’ve been roasting and selling snacks here for quite some time. It’s the kind of place where you can smell the roasted grains before you even see the sign. The shop isn't very large, so it gets a bit cramped when three or four people come in at once. We don’t have fancy displays or glass cases. Most of the stuff is in big steel drums or plastic containers so they stay crunchy. My cousins and I take turns sitting at the front. The 3rd Cross location is a bit narrow, so parking is always a headache for people, but they still come by. We spend our afternoons bagging things up into smaller packets. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy. Lalbagh Road 57 has been our base, and we haven’t really thought about moving to a bigger place. The roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard, but we just put a bucket there. It’s a real local business, nothing corporate about it. We just focus on getting the roasting done right every day. People come for a chat as much as they come for the snacks. It feels like home to us after all these years.
