We operate out of Kodigehalli, specifically at 37/11G on Old Padra Road. It is a busy stretch of road and we are right in the middle of it. Most of our time is spent managing the taxis and making sure the drivers are where they need to be. It is not a glamorous job. There is a lot of waiting around for the next booking to come in. The office is just a simple room where we keep the keys and the logbooks. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it is quiet for an hour. We have a few cars that we try to keep as clean as possible, though the city dust makes that a constant battle. My cousin helps me out with the paperwork because I am often out dealing with a flat tire or something like that. We know all the shortcuts in this part of town, which is the only way to get anywhere on time when the traffic hits. We don't have any big corporate backing or anything. It's just us and the cars. People in the neighborhood have our number saved and they call us when they need a ride to the station or the airport. We just take it day by day. The chairs in the office are a bit worn out and the fan makes a clicking sound, but it works for us. It’s just how things go when you run a small taxi business.
