S K Crafts

Chickpet is a place that never really sleeps, and we are right in the thick of it at 16/1. S K Crafts has been our life for a good while now. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a regular spot tucked into the lane, but we have a lot packed inside. We deal with all sorts of craft items and small decorative pieces that people seem to need for weddings or festivals. Most days start early, around nine, when the first tea arrives from the stall next door. We spend a lot of time just rearranging things so everything fits. It gets cramped when three or more people walk in at once, but that is just part of the Chickpet experience. I usually sit near the door to catch a bit of a breeze when it’s hot. People often get lost looking for our number, so I spend a lot of time pointing them in the right direction. We don't use any fancy systems to track what we have; it is mostly just knowing what's on which shelf. My cousin comes in on Saturdays to help with the heavy boxes. It's a simple way to make a living, and we know most of the other shop owners on this block by name. We don't do much talking about goals or anything like that, we just open the shutter and see who comes by.
