At Ramamurthy Nagar Piplod 485, that is where Real Spices is located. If you walk anywhere near the building, you can usually smell the chilies or the coriander before you even see the sign. We spend our days dealing with whole spices, cleaning them, and sometimes grinding them down into powders. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with big jute bags coming in from the markets. The air in here can get a bit spicy, which makes everyone sneeze if we are working with the hot peppers. We have a few machines that do the heavy work, but a lot of it is still done by hand, like sorting through the seeds to make sure there aren't any stones or bits of dirt mixed in. It is a simple business, really. We just take what grows in the ground and get it ready for people to use in their kitchens. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a place with lots of shelves and bags stacked against the walls. We’ve got a few people who help with the packing and the weighing. Most of our customers are locals from around Ramamurthy Nagar who want something fresher than what they get in the plastic packets at the big supermarkets. We just try to make sure everything is clean and the prices are fair so people keep coming back. It's a bit of a messy job, but we like the work.
