Kln Silks

You’ll find Kln Silks on the 2nd floor of the Ranganatha Market. We’re located at No. 9, right where Jumma Masjid Road crosses Avenue Road. It’s a very busy corner near the Indian Bank. Being on the second floor means we're a bit away from the street noise, but not entirely. You still hear the honking and the crowds below. We’ve been in this market for years. It’s a maze in here sometimes. We deal with silks, so we have rolls of fabric stacked up everywhere. It’s a lot of color but also a lot of heavy lifting. We don't have a big elevator, so we carry things up the stairs. It keeps us fit, I guess. We aren't trying to be a luxury boutique. We're a market shop. People come in looking for specific fabrics, and we help them find what they need. It’s crowded, and we don't have much room for a desk. We just work on the counters. Sometimes the lights flicker when it rains. We just keep going. We don't have a website or a fancy logo. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for a long time. It’s a family-style environment even though we aren't all related. We know the other shopkeepers in Ranganatha Market. We help each other out when someone needs change or a bit of help moving stock. It’s just a normal way to run a silk business.
