Pepper Cafe is over on St. Johns Road. We are pretty close to Lavanya Theater. If you’re in that part of Bangalore, you know it can be a bit crowded. The cafe is at number 9. It’s an old building, and it has its quirks. The windows rattle a bit when the big buses go past. We don't have a lot of space, but we’ve squeezed in enough tables for the morning rush. Most people come in for a quick bite or a tea. It’s not the kind of place with a fancy website or a marketing department. It’s just us. We open up early to catch the people heading to work. The theater nearby means we get a different crowd in the evenings. We’ve had to fix the plumbing a few times this year, but that’s what happens with older places. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. It’s just a cafe. The coffee is hot and the snacks are made fresh every day. We know most of the neighbors by now. It’s a good community around St. Johns Road. We don’t have a big grand plan. We just want to keep the doors open and serve the people who walk in. Sometimes we run out of milk before the delivery arrives, and we just have to tell people to wait. It’s real life, not a polished corporate thing. Bangalore is always changing, but we try to keep this little corner on St. Johns Road exactly the same as it’s always been.
