Nikis

Nikis is located in HBR Layout, specifically at that 1-14/2324-9 address which always confuses the delivery guys. We’ve been here for a while now and watched the street change quite a bit. It used to be much quieter, but now there are more cars parked everywhere. We open up early to get the place sorted. The tiles on the floor are a bit old, and there’s a mark on the wall where a table used to be. We decided to leave it because it felt like a waste to paint the whole thing. The light in the back flickers sometimes if the heavy machines are running, but we mostly ignore it. Working here means seeing the same faces every single day. We know who takes their coffee black and who wants extra sugar without them even asking. It gets a bit dusty because of the road work nearby, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Usually, people just find us by walking past or hearing from a neighbor. The kitchen gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we keep the back door cracked open for a breeze. It’s just a small operation we run. We handle everything ourselves, from the dishes to the cleaning. It’s a lot of work, but it fills the day. We’re just a part of the HBR area, trying to get things right one day at a time.
