Classic Bags

Our shop, Classic Bags, is located right on Dvg Road in Basavanagudi. If you know where Hotel Ice Thunder is, we are just near there. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows the hotel. Working here means there is always a lot of foot traffic outside. We spend most of our time at the sewing machines or cutting out patterns for different kinds of bags. The space is a bit tight because we have rolls of fabric and zippers everywhere. It’s not the neatest place you’ll ever see, but we know where everything is. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with all the threads flying around, especially when we are busy with a big batch. We’ve been in this part of Basavanagudi for some time now and like the neighborhood. It has a specific feel to it. You can hear the traffic from the road all day long. We don’t really do much advertising; people just see us when they are walking to get food or shopping nearby. The lights in the back flicker sometimes, and the fan makes a bit of noise, but it keeps us cool while we work. Making bags is just what we do. It’s a lot of repetitive work, stitching the same seams over and over. But it's honest work. We keep the shop open pretty regular hours. Usually, one of us is here cutting leather or canvas while the other handles the walk-ins. It's just a normal day for us.
