Nidhi Dokania Fashion Designer

The workspace is located at D 503 in the Ideal Homes area of Beml Layout. This is right off the Banaswadi Main Road. Being on the fifth floor means we are a bit away from the direct noise of the traffic below, but you can still hear the horns honking during rush hour. It’s an apartment setup where Nidhi Dokania does all the design work. There are usually rolls of fabric and sketches scattered around the main room. It isn't a retail shop where you walk in and see clothes on racks. It’s more of a place where the actual creating happens. We spend a lot of time looking at different patterns and talking about styles. The light in D 503 is pretty good in the afternoons, which helps when we are looking at small details. Banaswadi is a busy part of town, so there is always something happening outside. We usually have a lot of coffee while we work through the designs. It’s a bit of a messy space, but that’s just how it goes when you are working with textiles. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or anything. You just come in and see us working at the tables. It’s a practical place that works well for a designer. We just stay focused on the tasks we have for the day.
