New Tea Stall

If you go down Malleshwaram Magadi Main Road, you will find New Tea Stall at number 22. We are very close to the police station, so we see a lot of officers and people heading there. The shop is small and smells like ginger and boiling milk most of the time. We wake up very early to get the stove going and start the first batch of tea. There are some wooden benches where people can sit for a few minutes. It gets quite hot behind the counter, especially in the afternoons. We serve tea in small glass cups and have some jars of biscuits and rusks on the counter. The glass on the jars is a bit clouded from age. It’s a busy spot because of the main road. Sometimes it’s so loud with the buses going by that you can’t hear what the customers are asking for. We don’t have a menu or anything like that. People just know what we have. Sometimes we run out of milk by evening if it's been a busy day. The walls are a bit stained from the steam, but that’s just how it is in a tea shop. We keep things simple here. It’s just a place to get a quick drink and move on. We’ve been here at this location for a long time, watching the traffic change over the years. It is a small place but we keep the tea hot and the biscuits crunchy.
