Nagaraj Shanbhag

This place in Kalyan Nagar is basically where I spend most of my waking hours. It’s a small office space with a lot of files and a desk that usually has way too many papers on it. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know most of the people who walk past the window every day. It isn't a corporate setup with a receptionist or anything fancy. You just walk in and I’m usually there sitting with a cup of tea or looking at some documents. The walls are a plain off-white color and I’ve got a couple of plants that I forget to water sometimes. People come by for all sorts of reasons, mostly for help with paperwork or advice on things they aren't sure about. It’s a quiet way to earn a living. Kalyan Nagar has changed a lot over the years with more shops and cafes, but this corner stays pretty much the same. I don't use any high-tech systems, just my computer and a few old notebooks. Sometimes the printer jams and I have to spend twenty minutes fixing it, which is frustrating but just part of the day. I prefer it this way, being my own boss and working at my own pace. It’s not a big operation, just one person trying to get things done correctly for the people in the neighborhood who need a bit of help. I am usually here from ten to six.
